Training for Life
Training for life
As a martial artist and yoga practitioner of over 40 years I do have some experience of physical training. In my time I have trained in Judo, Aikido, Jujitsu, Gung Fu and Hapkido and also training just for the fun of it. And got very high on my own chemicals, and experienced those pitfalls. And pushed my self beyond what was sensible and suffered the consequences,
There was a time when due to injury I was unable to do a full lotus for many years. a time when they wanted to fuse my spine No way I rebuilt my body. Using the power of my mind.
And ego, to be able to do things with my body that most people simply can not do gives me a buzz.
Weight training, running, machines, gyms, stretching, flexibility training , circuit training , aerobic, anaerobic, name it I have done it, and not for just a few months.
As I have matured in age I came to realise that as you get older so your training changes and you have to let go of some forms of training and embrace others
There is a big difference between training short term and continues training for your life.
In order to be healthy and to be able to do the sports or past times you are passionate about.
Training for health is one thing , and training for fitness is another. In fact some of the fittest people I have meet are the unhealthiest.
It is important to get the right knowledge and realise that if physical training is a big part of your life there will be things you will have to learn and skills you must develop, both physically and mentally.
There is a physical component to training there is also a mental.
Long term the mental side is the most important. To be able to train for years 3-5 times a week takes mental discipline and a lot of self knowledge.
I once spent 2 years learning Acupuncture, not to be an Acupuncturist but just to learn the anatomy and physiology , to improve my skills as a martial artist.
To be balanced and to have a balanced life is a must.
Self knowledge is vital this will enable you to avoid over training and injury. being able to listen to your body and hear what she tells you. You must rest have days off and enjoy the time between training.
There have been times when I have not trained for several months, however I knew I would and did Most of the skills and abilities I posses were achieved using the mental side .
Patience discipline self knowledge, hypnotic skills and later the skills of NLP have allowed me to use my body for my pleasures and to bring pleasure to others.
After many years I learnt the biggest secret.
How to ask the right questions.
And listen for the answers
Hypnosis tapes played each night as you sleep will have a dramatic effect on your physical skills, allowing you to learn those skills faster and easier. Allowing you to sleep deeply. As you learn to relax and move with grace so your speed will increase. You will avoid injury and most important you will experience a new joy in your training .
