Men Drag Their Feet Down The Aisle
Many women complain to me that there partner will not commit to them, or to a marriage.
There are many reasons why a man will do this.
These findings are from Rutgers' National Marriage Project
The top ten reasons why men are reluctant to commit to marriage, according to a new report from the National Marriage Project of Rutgers University:
- 1. They can get sex without marriage more easily than in times past.
- 2. They can enjoy the benefits of having a wife by cohabiting rather than marrying.
- 3. They want to avoid divorce and its financial risks.
- 4. They want to wait until they are older to have children.
- 5. They fear that marriage will require too many changes and compromises.
- 6. They are waiting for the perfect soul mate, and she hasn't yet appeared.
- 7. They face few social pressures to marry.
- 8. They are reluctant to marry a woman who already has children.
- 9. They want to own a house before they get a wife.
- 10. They want to enjoy single life as long as they can.
And who can blame them.
Let’s look at some of these reasons.
They can get sex without marriage more easily than in times past.
This is true sex these days is very cheep, often free. You can have a wide range of sexual partners and women thankfully play an active part in this.
Women especially younger ones do take a lot of care and put a lot of work into looking sexy, and most have great free bodies. It is also very easy to indulge in your wildest sexual fantasies for real.
I have friends who regularly enjoy 2-3 different beautiful women each week and for a lot less than the cost of a girlfriend and they are not using hookers.
They want to avoid divorce and its financial risks.
This is a growing problem these days the average divorce in the UK costs about £13,000.
Women start most divorce proceedings, so a man is taking a very big risk in marrying a woman. The chances are he will lose his home a large part of his income and be screwed in court by his wife and not see his kids.
The only reason to get married today is if both partners have decided that they want children.
They want to wait until they are older to have children.
This makes a lot of sense both in terms of life experience and for money reasons.
At an older age, both parties will have experience in dealing with the stresses of marriage and especially the problems of children.
There will also be less chance of an older wife with children divorcing him.
They fear that marriage will require too many changes and compromises.
Of course, it will, there are many skills to learn in order to be married, and maybe young people do not have the maturity to deal with it.
The changes that will be needed on both sides to create a blissful marriage that will last are huge.
They are waiting for the perfect soul mate, and she hasn't yet appeared.
Yes the soul mate myth.
Do you realize that a soul mate idea is one of the most un spiritual notions going round now? However, in fortune cookey philosophy and people who think little it is common.
If they believe in this fairy tail, they are switched on enough to know that they are not ready for marriage.
They are reluctant to marry a woman who already has children.
Of course they are, some men and I was one of them will take on the role of a dad, however being a stepparent is very difficult. Just add learning to be a husband and a stepparent together, as well as trusting that the woman has been very truthful and has the maturity and commitment for her new roles.
The man has also to consider that if the partnership splits he will also lose the child he has grown to love, and may have to pay money for a kid that is not his. If the new wife has moved into his home, he may even lose his home, and have to move out.
They want to enjoy single life as long as they can.
And who can blame them.
