In psychology, procrastination is the act of replacing high-priority tasks with low-priority actions, so that you act in a way that is unhelpful or distractive. It is just a way for you to deal with the anxiety you cause yourself when you need to do some thing and your subconscious control mind has a different set of rules running.
However, in every day life this is often counterproductive, needless, and delaying.
It is very similar to self sabotage basically you have subconscious resistance to doing the task as it will allow you to avoid something. All that is happening is a little warning light going on in your mind and your unconscious mind is saying.
