Empty Nest Syndrome
Empty Nest syndrome is a state of mind that can affect a woman around the time of her life when one or more of her children leave home. It can also occur when a child first goes to school, leaves to attend university or gets married, each of these times is a signal to you that you are no longer needed in the same way you once were and that it is time for you to enter a new stage of being a parent. It is time for you to grow.
This is how it should be with both the child and the parent growing and maturing should be as a child grows, so does the parent. For being a parent involves the parent growing, maturing and acquiring new skills as our children grow up. When they have left home you are entering a new stage of your life.

Empty nest syndrome is usually associated with mothers, but fathers can also create the state of mind. Especially with there daughters it is common to hear a dad talk about his little baby only to discover that the daughter is a beautiful sexually active young woman.
Normal Reactions Some parents feel a little sadness at this time. This is normal, however it is far more beneficial to you and your child to rejoice, not only at your new found freedom but there's. A stage of your life has ended however there are new skills to learn both for you, and your kids.
How ever this may require a maturity and level of insight and training that you may not be used to. Yet, this is part of being a good parent.
Sometimes this stage of your life coincides with other major life changes. Dealing with the menopause or coping with elderly parents and often taking a look at your relationship with your partner. Often at this time couples will divorce especially if the lady has been unhappy in the relationship
